Return to HomeThe links in the navigation panel on the left hand side of the page lead to information about various aspects of my life and work. Classroom Support As a teacher librarian, I believe that my role is more than a custodian of the school’s digital and print resources. I firmly believe that the values of those resources can only be realized when students know how to learn, know how to access, use, analyze, evaluate and synthesize information. For a school, having an excellently resourced library only becomes an asset when students consider the library resources an extension of their classroom work, when information fluency is integrated into all aspects of the curriculum, and when reading is linked to pleasure, to emotional and mental growth and to personal inquiry.
Community Involvement I have always believed that a school does not exist in isolation, and that an educator who is privileged to work in a well-resourced environment, with access to professional development opportunities, has an obligation to reach out to the community, and support the educators in other schools, and to support students in their quest to make a difference in the communities in which they live.
Education, qualifications and experience I have been fortunate in having a range of opportunities to interact with young people and to further my career,
Information LiteracyAt the heart of the library’s raison d'être is the concept of information fluency. The IB philosophy of integrating the approaches to learning through all three progammes provides the ideal vehicle for this to be pursued.
